Some of the most toxic chemicals found in the home are found in commercial air fresheners and cleaners. However, you can easily make your own completely safe and natural air freshener. Here is a quick and simple recipe for a DIY tutorial to make your own air freshener that has only two ingredients—baking soda and essential oils!
Materials:
1 small Mason jar with a lid and band1/4 cup baking soda5-6 drops of your favorite essential oilHammerSmall screwdriver or nail
Instructions:
1- Put 1/4 cup baking soda into your small Mason jar. Add 5-6 drops of your favorite essential oil or blend.
Step Two: Put the lid on top of the Mason jar and seal it tight with the band. Take your hammer and nail and punch small holes in the top.
Try this: add some style by drawing a design onto a piece of paper and then securing the design on top of the lid with a strong tape around the edges and poking holes along the pattern.
Step Three: Place the jar anywhere you want to keep smelling fresh – bathroom, near a garbage can, in your closet, near your dirty clothes, etc. Shake the jar often to by SlamDunk Savings">activate the fresh scent and if it starts to fade, just add 2-3 more drops of essential oil into the jar.
